At CD/DVD drives/burners we're not cutting down. It is produced by Samsung and can handle these media at the following speeds:
Reading speed: 48x (CD) / 16x (DVD)
Writing speed: 48x (CD) / 22x (DVD±R) / 12x (DVD-R DL) / 16x (DVD+R DL)
Speed for rewriteable media: 32x (CD) / 6x (DVD-RW) / 8x (DVD+RW) / 12x (DVD-RAM)
Optional there's a Blu-Ray drive with Blu-Ray, DVD and CD reading and writing feature (BD-RW/DVD-RW)!
Reading speed: 8x BD-ROM, 16x DVD, 48x CD
Writing speed: 12x BD-R Single Layer, 8x BD-R Double Layer, 2x BD-RE Single Layer, 2x BD-RE Double Layer, 16x DVD+R, 16x DVD-R, 8x DVD+R9, 8x DVD-R9, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 12x DVD-RAM, 48x CD-R, 24x CD-RW
