Always up to date: Subscribe to TUXEDO now via RSS feed

If you want to stay informed, you don’t necessarily have to visit websites every day or rely on the algorithms of social networks. With the open standard RSS (Really Simple Syndication), you can subscribe to new content from various sources directly and with minimal data usage.

Starting now, we at TUXEDO are offering our own RSS feeds – we know, this was long overdue. You can now easily follow all posts from our news and blog section, our weekly column “This Week in TUXEDO OS”, as well as new products in our shop. Fully automated, and even offline if you like.

Why RSS?

RSS feeds allow you to collect and read content from different sources in one central place – without ads, without third-party platforms, and without the risk of missing anything. You decide what you want to read, when and where. Especially in times of increasing centralization and commercial interests in social media, RSS is a simple and effective alternative.

How to read RSS feeds on TUXEDO OS

On TUXEDO OS – our in-house Linux distribution – you have several options to read feeds:

With RSS readers like RSS Guard

RSS Guard is a versatile feed reader with a modern graphical interface. You can easily install it via the Discover software center or through the terminal:

sudo apt install rssguard

The application offers many features, including filters, multiple user accounts, and integration with online services like Feedly or Tiny Tiny RSS.

To add a feed, open the menu Feeds » Add item and choose Add new feed. Copy the desired feed URL and paste it into Source. Then click on Fetch now to load the metadata.

To fetch all feeds, go again to Feeds » Fetch all. Under Tools » Settings » Feeds & articles, you can configure RSS Guard to update feeds automatically in the future.

With email clients like Thunderbird

You don’t necessarily need a dedicated app – many email clients like Thunderbird support RSS feeds directly. Simply open the top-right menu (the so-called hamburger menu) and select New Account » Feed. A good account name might be Blogs & News Feeds. Then click Continue and Done.

In the Email section, a new entry will appear with your chosen name. Click on it, and under Manage feed subscriptions you can add new feeds – including those from TUXEDO. Just enter the desired feed URL and confirm with Close. Thunderbird will then automatically download the content.

To receive the first messages immediately, click on Blogs & News Feeds and choose Get Messages. After that, Thunderbird will keep updating – by default every 100 minutes.

In the browser via add-ons like Feedbro

If you only read your emails in the web browser, you don’t have to leave it to use feeds either. There are several feed reader add-ons in the extension stores. One example is Feedbro, which you can install for Firefox or Chrome.

Online and self-hosted

Of course, you can also read our feeds with browser-based services like Feedly or Inoreader. If you prefer full control, you can run alternatives like Tiny Tiny RSS, FreshRSS, or Miniflux on your own server.

Our feeds at a glance

To get you started right away, here are the links to our RSS feeds. We separate them so you can subscribe only to what really interests you.

TUXEDO: News and Blog

All posts from our News & Blog section – including updates about TUXEDO, TUXEDO OS, and our products. This feed includes all publications. If you subscribe to it, you don’t need the other two.

TUXEDO: Product announcements

If you’re only interested in new TUXEDO devices or important information about our hardware in the wild, then this feed is for you. It includes all posts from the Products category on our News & Blog page.

This Week in TUXEDO OS

In our section This Week in TUXEDO OS, we report every Friday evening on the past week’s developments around TUXEDO OS. We also present updates in KDE, KDE apps, and useful tips and tricks for KDE and Linux.

With RSS, you decide how and when you want to read our content. No ads. No third-party services. No compromises on privacy. We’d be thrilled if you subscribe to our feeds – and take this step with us toward a more open and free digital world.
