The TUXEDO Sirius 16, which debuted as the first full-AMD Linux gaming notebook, gets in its second generation a performance boost with the Ryzen 7 8845HS processor. This processor with 8 cores and 16 threads is manufactured in an advanced 4nm manufacturing process, which enables remarkable efficiency. As a result, it achieves performance levels comparable to Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H. The Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU, based on the RDNA 3 architecture, is a rare find in notebooks and gives the device powerful graphics performance. With 32 processing units, up to 2300 MHz clock speed and 8 GB GDDR6 graphics memory, it offers gaming power on a par with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060.

Despite its performance, the system’s power consumption remains moderate, with a battery life of up to 10 hours in normal use. The processor can consume up to 80 watts under high load, while the TDP of the GPU is limited to 54 watts under gaming load to provide sufficient cooling reserves. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist das durchdachte Tastaturlayout: Der Ziffernblock ist endlich wieder gut nutzbar, die Pfeiltasten sind abgesetzt, der Netzschalter ist separat und sogar eine Context-Menü-Taste fehlt nicht.

The TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen 2 has been announced today and will begin shipping in June. This all-aluminum chassis laptop features an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS SoC with AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT discrete graphics, 1440p display, up to 96GB of DDR5–5600 memory, and up to 8TB of NVMe storage. Besides this being TUXEDO’s first AMD Hawk Point offering for the Ryzen 8000 series, I believe this is the first I’ve seen of any Linux laptop vendor offering these very latest AMD SoCs albeit only a relatively small upgrade over the Ryzen 7840 series.
