Why does my laptop's battery run out so quickly?

In new devices, the battery must first be coordinated with the firmware. To do this, carry out 2-3 complete charging cycles, i.e. have it completely discharged and then fully charged overnight. Then the entire capacity should be available.

The runtime of TUXEDO Computer Notebooks is always tested in idle mode, with minimum display brightness, with deactivated keyboard illumination, deactivated WLAN & Bluetooth and without any connected devices (USB, LAN, HDMI, VGA etc.).

This gives you an indication of the maximum possible running time. Starting from this, you can then individually control your individual runtime according to your necessary requirements and thus specifically influence the energy requirement. The utilization, especially of the CPU and the integrated graphics, also plays an important role. The more intensively the system is used, the shorter the battery life.

What reduces battery life?
  • Many parallel running programs
  • Games, image and video editing
  • Browser with many open tabs

What improves battery life?
  • Reduce the brightness of the notebook screen - brightness of 30 - 40 % is perfectly adequate
  • Keyboard lighting: necessary during the day?
  • WLAN & Bluetooth: currently necessary?
  • Webcam: Does this always have to be on?
  • Touchpad: Do you use this or do you use a connected mouse?

NO effect on battery life:

The graphics chip - you can rest assured. Unless you have a device with an NVIDIA graphics card. Here you can also switch to the installed standard graphics unit to conserve battery power.
