AMD Ryzen 5000 chip shortage
rather rely on existing CPUs

Existing configuration remains

Since the start of the Corona pandemic, more or less all technical sectors have been struggling with a shortage of microchips. The reasons for this are manifold and are largely due to the enormous increase in hardware demand in the wake of home office and lockdowns. In addition, AMD already had major problems in the spring of 2020 to be able to meet the surprisingly large market demand for Ryzen 4000 processors. COVID-19 has exacerbated this situation for the Ryzen 5000 series. Therefore, there are no secured plans and time frames for TUXEDO laptops from AMD yet due to the lack of CPU deliverability for the AMD Ryzen 5000 series.

First gaming, then consumer devices

If a certain amount of CPUs is available, devices from the TUXEDO gaming division will first to be equipped with them, because there is a need for more powerful CPUs here to be able to guarantee smooth game operation. This means that the TUXEDO AMD series will be equipped with AMD Ryzen 4000 for the time being and will remain available in the long run. Especially since TUXEDO Computers recommends AMD Ryzen 4000s in good conscience, since they still have an outstanding price-performance ratio and depending on the usage scenario and programs, only slight performance gains can be expected from the successor in some cases. The price development of the CPU successor is also not foreseeable at this point.

Order now and get device safely

If you want to be on the safe side, you should therefore purchase the existing configuration, because equipping it with the successor CPU is not foreseeable in terms of time and costs and can take a very long time.
