Ampere premiere! The new TUXEDO Books XP15 and XP17

The first Linux gaming laptops with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000

Augsburg (Germany), 10th of March 2021. On January 26, 2021, the time had finally come: NVIDIA's new graphics card generation, codenamed Ampere, saw the light of day in the notebook world.

Now, the TUXEDO Book XP15 and XP17 are the first two Linux gaming notebooks to premiere the new GPU series, in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (only on XP15), RTX 3070 and the GeForce RTX 3080.

Powerful yet highly efficient: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 in Max-Q design

With the omission of the "Max-Q" suffix or the exemption about the naming of this feature, NVIDIA has caused a lot of discussion and confusion regarding different TGP configurations.

Fact is: The key to enable high graphics power in a 1.98 cm (XP15) or 1.99 cm (XP17) thin and 1.99 kg (XP15) or 2.3 kg (XP17) light aluminum chassis is power efficiency!

NVIDIA's Max-Q design stands for the best possible performance-per-watt and thus offers the best of both worlds: High graphics performance with relatively low heat development!

With a power consumption of up to 105 watts (incl. 15 watts Dynamic Boost), the GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 feature high-performance gaming in a thin and mobile form factor.

Intel eight-core CPU and many different display options

Especially in terms of gaming CPUs, the Intel Core i7-10870H is still a powerful choice and benefits from single-core clock rates of up to 5 GHz.
Thanks to its 8 cores and Hyperthreading for simultaneous processing of up to 16 computing tasks, the i7-10870H also provides a very capable performance for video or image editing.

The highlight of the TUXEDO Book XP15 and XP17 is the total of 7 display options:

Full aluminum chassis and up to 10 h battery life

The high-end technology is embedded in a dignified, matte black all-aluminum chassis, which not only gives the two TUXEDO Books of the XP series a high-quality feel and look, but also scores with a high stability.

The large 73 Wh battery with flexible battery charging function (FlexiCharger), which can be activated in the BIOS, allows a long mobile use of both Linux gaming notebooks for up to 10 (XP15) or 9 hours (XP17) in idle mode. Around 5 (XP17) to 6 (XP15) hours are possible in practical office use with medium brightness (~150 nits) and activated Wi-Fi adapter.

Extensive connectivity with Thunderbolt 3

Besides the microSD card reader (UHS-II), this includes a Gigabit LAN port and WiFi 6 network connection as well as three USB 3.2 ports and separate inputs and outputs for headphones and microphone.

The highlight is the versatile Thunderbolt 3 port, which enables up to 40 Gbit/s fast data exchange and allows connecting up to 3 external monitors in combination with the HDMI interface and Mini DisplayPort 1.4.
