TUXEDO Computers converts to e-car vehicle pool

2022 is a special year for the Augsburg-based manufacturer of pre-installed Linux laptops and PCs: not only is the company celebrating its 18th birthday and giving away TUXEDO birthday fan packs throughout the year, but it has also converted its car pool of 10 company vehicles to electric cars.

Electric and hard to miss

TUXEDO Computers now owns 10 company vehicles of various sizes and shapes. Employees can also use the vehicles privately and choose the size of the vehicle as required. "As the number of employees has increased in recent years, some of whom live outside Augsburg, we also offer vehicles for daily use, among other things. It was important to us that the employees are satisfied, but also that environmental factors are taken into account, such as low-noise driving and a better CO2 balance. So it was clear that we would go for pure electric cars," explains Herbert Feiler, CEO of TUXEDO Computers.

The new vehicles are hard to miss on city streets, with giant cartoon penguins emblazoned on the hood and and side doors, referring to the Linux mascot Tux. Since devices from TUXEDO Computers are offered with pre-installed Linux, it made sense to use exactly this recognition effect. "The penguin is an eye-catcher par excellence - perhaps it will also improve the mood in road traffic when people on the road see our cars," the CEO reflects with a wink. The vehicles can be loaded in the parking garage next to the BüroCenter Messe, where the company has been based since October 2019.

Expansion across the board

From the second half of the year, the company will also be able to offer more in terms of space, as the 12th floor of the BüroCenter Messe will not only house the company's offices on the left-hand side, but another 500 square meters will be added on the right-hand side, including a foyer and training rooms. Herbert Feiler explains, "With the expansion, we will ensure that all employees can work in a well-distributed manner if they decide to no longer stay in their homes full-time, but only partially."
