Huge battery in compact magnesium chassis

Augsburg (Germany), 3rd of March 2020. TUXEDO Computers is breaking new ground with the new InfinityBook S 14 from March: The ultra-mobile device from the InfinityBook series is particularly light at less than 1.1 kg and has a huge 73 watt battery designed for one day of continuous operation. It can also be opened up to 180°.

At first glance, the chassis feels like plastic, but it is a magnesium alloy. As the surface is very rough at first, the material is given an additional finish. This makes the device considerably more torsion-resistant as well as more solid and robust than devices with an aluminum chassis.

Customers benefit from powerful Specs

The slim and handy 14 inch device with the dimensions 32.2 x 21.7 x 1.65 cm (W x L x H) can be configured with Intel's 10th generation "Comet Lake" Core i5-10210U or i7-10510U. Furthermore, up to 40 GB RAM and up to 2 M.2 SSDs are possible. The battery doesn't have to hide behind any device in this class and is equipped with 73 watt hours of performance. Together with the low-power display, the device has a runtime of up to 24 hours. During operation, the InfinityBook S 14 with the original power supply takes less than 1.5 hours to charge the battery from 10% to 90%.

In addition, the InfinityBook S 14 has a full-featured USB-C port so that the device can also be charged via it and displays can be connected via DisplayPort signal and peripherals can be connected via USB3.1 Gen2 - this also allows the use of a docking station.

Unique display

The display also catches the eye with this device: the special low-power display consumes up to 50% less energy than conventional displays, even at full brightness. This is only 1.65 watts, compared to 3.85 watts for displays in this class. Nevertheless, its specifications and brightness values are even better than those of most displays of comparable models. In addition, the narrow bazel display frame, which is only 5.7 mm in diameter, gives customers a particularly high degree of freedom of vision. On the other hand, the display has a very high contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a luminance of 320-350 cd/qm: This means that the quality of the screen is very high and texts are even easier to read. Even if the screen is dimmed more to save battery power, the result is still more pleasant for the eyes.

Protected fans and safety in silver grey

A further highlight is that the InfinityBook S 14 has fans, but the air intake and ventilation outlets are located between the display and the body, so that a constant air supply can take place even if the device is placed on a soft surface. The base plate is thus completely closed and free of ventilation slots. The unit is available in silver-grey.

Space-saving accessories

Not only the laptop but also the accessories are very limited in size and weight: Thus, it has a space-saving power supply that is thinner than a cigarette box (9,7 cm x 5,2 cm x 1,5 cm) and only weighs 140 g.

Robust according to military standards

In addition, the InfinityBook S 14 was tested according to MIL standard MIL-810G and of course passed this test. This is concerned with the behavior of products when they are accidentally dropped, for example when they are removed from a shelf or during transport. The following is a short list for an overview:
