Customers can set different profiles in the BIOS

Premium-BIOS bei TUXEDO Computers Geräten

Königsbrunn (Germany), 18th of July 2019. At TUXEDO Computers, data protection and, above all, control over your own device are top priorities. After switching off webcams, microphones, radio technology and the Intel Management Engine on the BIOS side, TUXEDO Computers is now delivering laptops with a new Premium BIOS.

"With the new Premium BIOS, our customers have the opportunity to make various profiles for chipset-specific settings and components in order to be able to operate the device optimally depending on the application," explains Herbert Feiler, CEO of TUXEDO Computers GmbH.

Four different modes

The boot menu contains the setting options. All TUXEDO models can access the boot menu via F2, except the InfinityBook 14, which accesses it via the ESC key. The profiles can be found in the insyde BIOS under Setup Utility » Advanced » Advanced Chipset Control » Performance Profile Select. Here the customer has four different modes to choose from:

Quiet Mode: Reduces performance and fan volume, sometimes with slightly elevated temperatures.

Power Saving: Reduces performance and delivers maximum battery life.

Entertainment: Offers a balanced mode with good performance, low fan volume and acceptable temperatures.

Performance: Allows maximum system performance, partially at the expense of fan volume and slightly elevated temperatures.

The respective settings of the profiles influence the CPU, the GPU as well as the fans of the device. Here is a short overview:

Overview Modes - Premium BIOS

Explanation of *:

An increase of the GPU TDP only takes place with graphics cards where NVIDIA also intends to do so. Currently, the Max-Q versions of the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 are affected, which normally run at 80 watts and are increased to 90 watts in the "Performance" profile. If the device has no RTX 2070 or 2080, there will be no change.

By the way: The "Entertainment" mode is selected by default. As of the next BIOS update, these modes can also be selected directly in the BIOS, so that they also work without an installed Control Center. If the Control Center is installed, the setting from the Control Center is applied and the setting in the BIOS setup is ignored.
