TUXEDO Control Center and drivers under Debian 13 - TUXEDO Computers

TUXEDO recently introduced the option to automatically install Debian 13 “Trixie” with GNOME or KDE Plasma via WebFAI 2.1.0. You can find more details about installation using the TUXEDO WebFAI here.

Integrating Debian 13 into WebFAI makes installation on your TUXEDO system much easier, as all in-house drivers and the proven TUXEDO Control Center (TCC) come preinstalled and ready for use.

Installation from ISO image

If you prefer more flexibility during partitioning, you can download the Debian 13 ISO image from the official Debian website and install it on your TUXEDO system. In this article, we explain how to add the TUXEDO repository afterward and install the TCC and TUXEDO drivers. The same procedure applies if you install Debian 13 with another desktop environment such as KDE Plasma, Xfce, or Cinnamon.

Installing Synaptic

To add the TUXEDO repository to Debian’s sources list, we use the well-established graphical package manager Synaptic.

Root privileges are required for installation. Since sudo is not configured by default on Debian, we’ll simply use:

su -

After entering the root password, install Synaptic with:

apt update && apt install synaptic

Importing the key

TUXEDO repositories are signed with a GPG key, which you first need to download from our website and then install as root:

cd /home/USERNAME/Downloads && dpkg -i tuxedo-archive-keyring_2022.04.01~tux_all.deb

Adding the repository

Now open Synaptic, go to Settings → Repositories in the main menu, and click New in the lower left corner. This activates the three input lines URI, Distribution, and Section(s). Enter the following in the URI field:

https://deb.tuxedocomputers.com/debian

In the second line, enter the codename trixie, and in the third line main. Click OK and reload the package sources. The TUXEDO repository is now active and ready to use. This method writes repositories into /etc/apt/sources.list.

If you prefer to create a repository entry in Debian 13’s new deb822 format, you can do so via the command line.

Adding the repository in the new deb822 format

Run the following command as root to open the sources list and create a new entry, which you then fill in with the TUXEDO repository information:

nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tuxedo.sources

Enter these lines and save the file with CTRL+O and Enter, then exit with CTRL+X:

Types: deb
URIs: https://deb.tuxedocomputers.com/debian
Suites: trixie
Components: main
Enabled: yes
Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/tuxedo-archive-keyring.gpg

Run apt update afterward to activate the entry.

Installing TCC and drivers using Synaptic

To install the TCC and TUXEDO drivers, click Search in Synaptic and enter tuxedo-control-center. Right-click the found entry and mark it as Mark for Installation.

A list of packages to be installed will appear, including tuxedo-drivers at the bottom. After confirming, click Apply and approve the changes.

This installs both the TCC and the TUXEDO drivers, ensuring your Debian installation is perfectly tuned for your TUXEDO system.

Installing TCC and drivers via the command line

If you added the repository using the new deb822 format, you can also install directly from the command line:

apt update
apt install tuxedo-control-center

As with Synaptic, all necessary dependencies, including tuxedo-drivers, are automatically installed — leaving your Debian system fully TUXEDO-fied.

If you own a TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro or TUXEDO Stellaris, you’ll additionally need the tuxedo-yt6801 package to enable the LAN port.
