Polaryzing gamers: New TUXEDO Polaris 15 and 17

Elegant and subtle gamer with AMD Ryzen 4000H and Intel Core i7 - CPUs

TUXEDO Polaris 15

Augsburg (Germany), 2nd of September 2020. The new TUXEDO Polaris 15 and Polaris 17 operate between the lines - Intel Core i7 vs AMD Ryzen 7 stand for mobile high-end CPU performance. Flanked by NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1650 Ti or RTX 2060 Refresh, the unobtrusively designed black gaming notebooks offer plenty of performance for games and content creation.

Polaryzing decision

AMD or Intel? You have the choice! With the TUXEDO Polaris 15, we want to leave it up to you to decide which processor (manufacturer) you prefer and thus give you even more configuration options.

You can choose the Intel Core i7-10750H with 6 cores | 12 threads and clock rates of up to 5 GHz (single core) and a nominal TDP of 45 watts on the one side. On the AMD side, our customers have the choice between two representatives of the current AMD Ryzen 4000H series with 45 W TDP as well: The Ryzen 5 4600H with up to 4 GHz, also equipped with 6 cores | 12 threads, and the popular AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with 8 physical cores for up to 16 simultaneous tasks and clock rates of up to 4.2 GHz.

AMD vs Intel - On par for gaming

For customers with such powerful processor options, they are spoilt for choice: AMD or Intel? 6-core processor or Octacore CPU?

In addition to personal brand preference, it depends primarily on the main usage scenarios: The Polaris 15 with Intel and AMD processors scores almost equally in gaming with sometimes (very) small advantages for the Core i7-10750H.

Does the user's focus mainly lie on multithreaded work, such as photo-, video- or 3D editing and rendering, the Polaris 15 benefits quite clearly from the two extra cores of the Ryzen 7 4800H. If the budget plays a major role, AMD's powerful Ryzen 5 4600H hexacore processor is the CPU of choice.

NVIDIA graphics for smooth gaming performance

But a TUXEDO only becomes a real gaming notebook with a powerful dedicated GPU! Customers can choose between the budget-friendly NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti (4 GB GDDR6 | max. 50 watts) and the RTX 2060 Refresh (6 GB GDDR6 | max. 110 watts). While the former represents a good entry into gaming, the latter marks the current entry level in the high-end range of mobile GPUs and is perfectly suited for demanding gaming in 1080p and 1440p.

The two NVIDIA GPUs of the current Turing generation are also a very good choice for Content Creator: In addition to gaming, the GTX 1650 Ti and the RTX 2060 Refresh are also very well suited for productive and creative software thanks to 1024 and 1920 CUDA cores respectively, thus contributing high performance to rendering processes.

Fast 144 Hz display and unobtrusively designed chassis

No gaming without a fast, 'ghosting-free' display with high refresh rate and no content creation without good color gamut! The TUXEDO Polaris 15 serves both interest groups ideally and integrates a non-glare 144 Hz FullHD type-IPS display with ~300 nits of brightness and a coverage of ~ 100 % of the sRGB color space.

The TUXEDO Polaris 15 comes in a matt black aluminium chassis, which shines through its elegant appearance and haptics and provides the under 2cm thin chassis with a robust stability. The bottom case with generous fan intakes and the very slim display bezels are made of resin.

62 Wh battery and numerous ports

For mobile use, the understated looking performance laptops are equipped with 62 Wh batteries, which enable the devices to run for up to 6 hours in practical usage (1080p video streaming at ~150 cd/m2). At the maximum, up to 10 hours (idle) are achievable.

An comprehensive port setup with 4x USB (including 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen2) and a card reader (SD / SDHC / SDXC) for data exchange as well as 2x Mini Displayport 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0 for multi-monitor usage complete the impressive overall package of both the TUXEDO Polaris 15 and Polaris 17.
