Königsbrunn (Germany), 19th of March 2019. Besides the common USB docking station TUXEDO Computers now also offers a Thunderbolt 3 docking station. This turns a compact laptop into a fully functional workstation.

Efficient work

By connecting the devices at the same time, customers have space for more efficient work: Only one cable is available to load the TUXEDO Book and control the screen at the same time. In addition, users can access the network via fast Gigabit Ethernet, connect additional peripheral devices, and take advantage of the full performance of USB-C. With an output of up to 135 watts, the TUXEDO Thunderbolt 3 dock charges the TUXEDO Book via the same cable that establishes the data connection between the dock and computer. By the way: The arranged USB 3.0 ports are strong enough to charge smartphones or tablets additionally. With 40 Gbit/s, moving large amounts of data is quick and easy, as is attaching an external graphics card.

Connections in plentiful supply

The Displayport connector supports monitors, also with 4K resolution and fast frame rates. An adapter to HDMI is included. An integrated Gigabit Ethernet connection offers the option of also using the network wired. Thanks to the TUXEDO Thunderbolt 3 dock's amplified audio output, plugs for audio devices can remain connected and a high-quality microphone can be connected at the same time.

Practical design with additional functions

The Thunderbolt 3 dock's wedge-shaped enclosure can be stowed underneath a TUXEDO book. The notebook's fans, which are directed downwards, thus get a higher air supply. This supports the cooling system by lowering the temperature development and further reduces the fan speed. In addition, the angle of the device changes and the keyboard is easier to reach.

Linux compatible

The TUXEDO Thunderbolt 3 docking station is fully Linux compatible. This is guaranteed with the pre-installed Linux systems offered in the shop. But also with common, modern distributions, which are installed by users themselves, a smooth operation is possible. In general, all notebooks with Thunderbolt 3 connectors are compatible with this dock. However, the notebook must support USB type C charging. You can find more information in the shop under „Technical Details“. 

Authorization via the system settings is required for setting up the docking station. Here you will find the corresponding instructions.

Please include your customer number, the model name of your laptop or PC and as detailed a description of your request as possible. The more details you give us, the faster we can process your request!

We might not be able to answer questions about third party hardware or software. For questions about popular open source software (Thunderbird, Filezilla...) please contact a forum e.g. ubuntuforums.org. The research effort for application specific setup is immense and not manageable at the current time. Basic compatibility questions e.g. are of course still welcome!

Time of delivery

If not stated differently in the article's description, we deliver goods in:

  • 7 - 10 working days inside Germany
  • 10 - 12 working days outside Germany

For orders paid in advance, the delivery time starts with receipt of the payment. Please keep in mind that there is no delivery on Sundays or on holidays.
For goods delivered as download, there will be no shipping fees due.
Access data for downloads are sent out via e-mail 1 - 3 working days after contract formation. For orders with advanced payment, we will deliver after receiving the payment. You can download the item by using the link sent to you via e-mail.

Self-pick-up of orders is not possible, unfortunately.
