Key combinations and special keys

When ordering a TUXEDO laptop, you can choose between different country-specific keyboard layouts. If this selection is not enough for you, TUXEDO offers to have the keyboard manufactured with a special layout or even your own own unique design. No matter which variant you choose: A number of special keys and key combinations are important when you want to set up your device or use advanced functions.

Key combinations during boot process

With the following keys you access the boot process of your TUXEDO computer and open for example the BIOS/UEFI configuration. Depending on the TUXEDO model, different keys lead to the desired target. The following table lists the respective keys, with the most common in first place.

Key(s) Function Explanation
Boot menu Select from which medium to boot.
BIOS/UEFI Loads the configuration of the BIOS or UEFI.
  • F2: All current devices from TUXEDO
  • ESC: InfinityBook 14 v1 and v2
  • F10: InfinityBook 13 and 15 from 2016

If more than one operating system (additional Linux distributions or Microsoft Windows) are installed on your device, select the operating system to be booted in the „Grub“ boot manager. Alternatively, start the Recovery Mode via this dialog.

Key(s) Function Explanation
Boot manager Select OS when installing multiple operating systems. Press the key only once, otherwise the system redirects you to the grub shell.
**Tip:** If you find it difficult to get the timing right to open the Grub boot manager, work around it as follows: Immediately after rebooting, first press F7 to open the boot menu. Then press Enter to confirm the default selection. Immediately after that hit ESC once to get into the boot manager with a small detour.

Special keys in TUXEDO OS

Within TUXEDO OS, the keyboard of your TUXEDO laptop offers a number of special keys with which you can directly control hardware-related functions of the device or reach central settings such as the volume of the playback or the brightness of the display without detours. Depending on the device, the key assignment may differ from the example shown.

TUXEDO functions

Key(s) Function Explanation
Function Toggles between the function keys and special functions.
Function Lock Fixed toggle between special and function key level.
Control Center Opens the TUXEDO Control Center..
Super/Tux key Opens the start menu. Additional function in combination with other keys.
Gaming-Mode Disables the super key so you don’t accidentally open the Start menu while gaming.

Hardware control

Key(s) Function Explanation
Display darker Reduces the brightness of the display.
Display brighter Increases the brightness of the display.
Touchpad Turns the touchpad under the keyboard off or on.
Display Turns the internal display of the laptop off or on.
Flight Mode Turns WLAN and Bluetooth on/off.
Standby Activates the standby mode.

Keyboard LEDs

Key(s) Function Explanation
Keyboard LED Mode Toggles between the different illumination modes/colors.
Keyboard-LEDs on/off Turns the keyboard backlight off/on.
Keyboard darker Darkens the keyboard LEDs brightness step by step.
Keyboard brighter Increases the brightness of the keyboard LEDs step by step.

Multimedia features

Key(s) Function Explanation
Play/Pause Pauses or starts the playback of a media file.
Back Jump to the previous track or to the beginning of the media file.
Next Skip to the next title inside a playlist.
Mute Mute or unmute the speakers.
Quieter Decreases the volume of the playback.
Louder Increases the volume of the playback.
Microphone Switches the integrated microphone on/off.
