Gabriel - TUXEDO Computers

How old are you?

Currently I am 30.

Are you from Augsburg?

Yes, I spent my school, training and study years here. Now I also work here.

How long have you been working with Linux and why?

Out of interest I started to deal with Linux when I was 16. My interest was great and I have also dealt with not so well-known distributions - many start with Ubuntu or know this distribution best. In the last three 3 years I got more involved with Linux again, mainly because of my computer science studies. There I also realized that open source will be the future.

How do you know TUXEDO Computers?

Quite classically - from the Internet. I knew the website and always read about and from TUXEDO Computers in forums.

Why did you want to work at TUXEDO Computers?

I wanted to work at TUXEDO Computers to bring Linux to the people, to champion and share the open source idea. I also harbor a passion for good hardware and at the same time, promoting repairable, specially configured Linux complete solutions was important to me. I wanted to help people take the fear out of Linux. Many still have inhibitions today because they believe that Linux is only for "nerds" and "tinkerers" - but an insane amount has happened and distributions today are much more user-friendly and also created in a graphically appealing way.

What are you doing in your field?

I work in a support role, which means that I answer general customer queries about equipment and specific questions about a device by phone and e-mail. It could be a question about the equipment or help with a specific issue. So I'm the link between the company and its customers. The focus is on solving smaller problems, and when complex issues arise, I pass them on to our internal experts. In this way, I also draw attention to current issues or customer ideas.

What do you particularly like about TUXEDO / the devices?

I especially like the design on TUXEDO devices. Also the flawless compatibility under Linux, the customizations and tools - like the Tuxedo Control Center. What I like about TUXEDO itself is the dynamic working atmosphere and the shared joy of Linux and fast beautiful products.

What do you dream for the (TUXEDO) future?

I dream of a future where TUXEDO Computers with its devices becomes not only an alternative, but a go-to for people who want to live, experience and promote privacy, sustainability and open source. Because they are products that everyone from young to old can use and enjoy trying and learning. My hope is that this will pave the way to a transparent, diverse and sustainable technological future.

Something else personal - what are your hobbies?

I ride snowboard and BMX, deal with VR and AR. In addition, I am artistically on the go with graffiti. Of course, gaming and board games are not missing.
