With exactly one month to go until Christmas Eve and aiming for the fastest Linux hardware under the Christmas tree again this year, TUXEDO is now presenting its updated TUXEDO Polaris 15 and the new high-end flagship TUXEDO Stellaris 17 in their respective Generation 4 versions in time for pre-orders as a holiday gift for yourself or a loved one.

While the Polaris 15 with its entry-level high-end hardware in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 and the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H is aimed at sophisticated but price-conscious Linux gamers, the Stellaris 17 with the most powerful hardware on the market targets the absolut high-end segment.

AMD & NVIDIA: Excellent combination for performance and efficiency

Both Linux notebooks are powered by AMD processors from the current Ryzen 6000 generation as well as the fastest RTX graphics cards from NVIDIA.

Battery life shows that this combination is also a winning one apart from pure performance: Thanks to the excellent power efficiency of the Ryzen 9 6900HX, the Stellaris 17 achieves runtimes of up to 12 hours with its 99 Wh battery - an exceptional value for a high-end desktop replacement! The Ryzen 7 6800H can still wrestle up to 7 hours of endurance from the Polaris 15's mid-sized 62 Wh battery.

But AMD's fastest Ryzen 6000 mobile processors don't disappoint in performance either: With 8 efficiency-enhanced CPU cores (Zen 3+) that can handle up to 16 threads simultaneously, both the Ryzen 9 6900HX and the Ryzen 7 6800H offer great performance for content creation and gaming.

On the graphics side, both Linux gamers go all out and integrate NVIDIA's high-end GPUs in their respective maximum TGP configuration: While the Polaris 15 relies on the price-performance winner GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM and up to 140 watts (incl. Dynamic Boost 2.0), the Stellaris 17 - Gen4 reaches for the top shelf and offers either the RTX 3070 Ti (125 + 25 watts) or the RTX 3080 Ti with up to 175 watts and a generous 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM.

Cooling by air or water

Such powerful components need to be cooled, and both the Polaris 15 and the Stellaris 17 solve this via conventional air cooling inside the case or optionally via the external, stationary TUXEDO Aquaris water cooling system.

The air cooling of the Stellaris 17, consisting of a total of 6 heatpipes and one 50 mm and 60 mm fan, creates a strong airflow that allows the fast high-end components to unfold their potential.

If maximum power limits or alternatively lower temperatures or fan noise emissions are desired, the liquid cooling gadget TUXEDO Aquaris supports the air cooling with an external case with one 120 mm fan and an 160 ml water reservoir, by pumping destilled water through a specific cooling tube that sits right on top of the regular air cooling heatpipes.
For the connection with the TUXEDO Aquaris, both Linux notebooks are equipped with corresponding Aquaris ports on the back, hidden under a subtle rubber cap.

Thin and light vs robust premium case

The case distinguishes the two Linux gaming notebooks at first glance:

On the one hand, the Stellaris 17 integrates the fastest high-end hardware in a proportionally portable enclosure with an equally moderate 2.7 cm height and 2.8 kg (6.1 lbs) total weight; on the other hand, the 17-incher simply offers the best TUXEDO notebook chassis in terms of quality to date.

An important part of this premium build is the high-quality, mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX low-profile switches, which provide an excellent typing experience and the typical and very clearly audible trigger noise (key travel 1.8 mm | forward travel 0.8 mm) and support all important features, such as N-key rollover and anti-ghosting, as well as per-key RGB backlighting.

Stellaris 17 - Gen4

The TUXEDO Polaris 15, on the other hand, seeks the middle ground of highest portability in relation to the fastest hardware in its class and - considering NVIDIA‘s top-tier TGP with up to 140 watts - embeds this into a remarkably thin (2.3 cm) and exceptionally light (2.1 kg, 4.6 lbs) aluminum chassis (display lid and upper shell).

High-Resolution-Gaming on 15.6'' or 17'' and faster DDR5 RAM

Both the TUXEDO Polaris 15 and Stellaris 17 rely on contemporary display resolutions in WQHD format - although not in the same aspect ratio: While the slim gamer is equipped with a classic 16:9 panel with either 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 pixels, the Stellaris 17 is one of the first 17-inch notebooks with a 16:10 display and 2560 x 1600 pixels.

On the storage side, both Linux gamers are already equipped with new and blazing fast DDR5-4800 MHz RAM as well as 2x M.2 SSDs each for up to 4 TB of fast PCIe 4.0 x4 mass storage.

The connection to peripheral devices is made via 4x USB (1x USB-C 3.2 Gen2×1 (connectivity: dGPU | DisplayPort 1.4 | G-SYNC compatible), 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen1, 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen2×1) and HDMI 2.1 (connectiivity: dGPU | G-SYNC compatible). Besides the obligatory RJ45 LAN, microphone input and headphone output, a full size card reader (SD/SDHC/SDXC) is also on board.
