TUXEDO Book XUX7 with Intel Rocket Lake and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
The TUXEDO Book XUX7 is no ordinary notebook. It is aimed at enthusiasts who need the performance, storage and connectivity of a high-end desktop PC without wanting to completely sacrificing the mobility factor.
In addition to Intel's fastest desktop processors up to the Core i9-11900K, NVIDIA's most powerful mobile graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3080 in the maximum performance variant with up to 165 watts also moves under the black aluminum hood of the 4.3 cm high colossus.
This high-performance desktop replacement is flanked by 4x M.2 SSDs with up to 32 Terabytes of storage, max 128 GB of RAM and a comprehensive connectivity with 2x Thunderbolt 4 as well as two high-quality display options for every purpose.
Massive Appearance
When looking at the TUXEDO Book XUX7, it quickly becomes clear: There is massive performance under the hood here! With a height of 4.3 cm and a weight of 4.6 kg, the XUX focuses on uncompromising high-end desktop performance in a somewhat portable 17-inch form factor.
The chassis (display lid and base unit) is mainly made of brushed black aluminum and gives a solid, robust impression and high-quality, metallic haptics.
The full-size keyboard with number pad and mandatory TUX super key has a well defined pressure point and comes with adjustable RGB per key backlight. The Microsoft Precision Touchpad provides a smooth 130 x 70 mm surface with separate soft-touch mouse buttons and a fingerprint reader (Windows only).
In order to supply the energy-hungry high-end components with sufficient power and to charge the externally removable 97 Wh battery, the TUXEDO Book XUX7 is powered by 2x 280 Watt power supplies, which can be bundled together with the included power supply rack.
Desktop PC performance
One of the killer features of the XUX series are exchangeable, socketed high-end components. Intel's desktop processors from the mid-range model Core i5 up to the top tier model Core i9 of the 10th and 11th generation can be configured to take place on the FCLGA1200 socket. The top end configuration is headed by the two flaship models Intel Core i9-11900K with 8 cores and 16 threads and the 10-core Core i9-10900K.
Both high-end desktop CPUs operate at a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 125 watts and a maximum clock rate of 5.3 GHz. However, there are differences in the other specifications: While the i9-10900K can process up to 20 threads simultaneously, the new Rocket Lake model uses two cores less for an approximately 20% higher IPC (Instructions Per Cycle) performance in return.
Both CPUs offer a very similar performance and are therefore perfectly suited for processor-heavy games. The Core i9-11900K and i9-10900K also provide plenty of computing power for complex video production and rendering tasks.
Maximum Graphics Performance
thanks to GeForce RTX 3080
The GPU comes in an upgradable form factor as well: NVIDIA's fastest graphics card for notebooks, the GeForce RTX 3080 in its highest configuration with a TGP of up to 165 watts, replaces the old flagship model RTX 2080 SUPER.
The high-end GPU from NVIDIA's latest Ampere architecture features 6144 CUDA cores, a massive 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM and a maximum power consumption of 150 watts. Using NVIDIA Dynamic Boost, the Total Graphics Power can be increased by another 15 watts when under low simultaneous CPU load (e.g. during render processes via the GPU).
Compared to the predecessor, the GeForce RTX 2080 Super (TGP: 200 watts), the RTX 3080 features a significantly better performance-per-watt and offers an additional performance of 15-20% while even reducing the power consumption by up to 25%.
The better efficiency does not only result in lower temperatures and a lower fan noise under load, but also provides the energy-hungry desktop CPU with a larger thermal headroom.
Alternatively, the entry-level high-end model NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 3840 cores and up to 130 watts TGP or the mid-range high-end model, the GeForce RTX 3070, with 5120 CUDA cores and max. 140 watts TGP (both including Dynamic Boost) are also available.
Outstanding performance meets outstanding cooling.
To enable maximum performance in a notebook, a correspondingly massive cooling system must be implemented.
The TUXEDO Book XUX7 therefore comes with no less than 9 heatpipes which distribute the heat from the CPU and GPU to 4 massive copper heatsinks. From there, the two big fans efficiently blow out the heat through each two side and two rear fan outlets.
The TUXEDO Book XUX7 also raises the bar in terms of maintenance and upgrades: After removing just 4 screws, the large bottom panel can be lifted up easily and allows free access to the hardware components and the cooling system. By the way: Opening the device for maintenance and upgrade purposes is, of course, covered by your TUXEDO warranty if done properly!

Creator or Gamer?
The right display for each and every task!
The TUXEDO Book XUX7 provides high-quality display options for both ambitious content creators and demanding gamers:
The 17.3-inch 4K IPS display is primarily aimed at media content creators who value an extremely high resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels as well as professional color space coverage of the full AdobeRGB color gamut and the 400 nits of brightness. However, thanks to NVIDIA's G-SYNC technology, the 60 Hz display is also suitable for after-hours gaming sessions.
For gamers with highest demands in terms of refresh rates and blazingly fast response times the XUX7 provides a WQHD IPS display with 2560 x 1440 pixels and a very fast 165 Hz refresh rate. As with the 4K panel, however, interdisciplinary use for media design is no problem with the ~350 nits bright 1440p display thanks to 95 % coverage of the sRGB color space.
Desktop-PC-like Connectivity and Storage
Another huge advantage of the TUXEDO Book XUX series is the unique connectivity and storage configuration, which is almost on par even with full-blown desktop PCs.
"Connect Four": In terms of RAM and mass storage, there is not much left to wish for. Thus, the 17-inch desktop replacement notebook not only integrates 4x RAM slots for up to 128 GB of memory, which is extraordinary by notebook standards, but also 4x fast PCIe M.2 SSD slots for a maximum expansion of a whopping 32 Terabytes!
The total amount of the XUX7's 6x USB ports includes 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C 4.0 Gen3x2) for data speeds of up to 40 Gbit/s for lightning fast data transfers with external drives or for connecting 2x high-resolution 4K monitors using the integrated DisplayPort 1.4a signal. Additional external monitors can be connected via HDMI 2.1 as well as the 2x MiniDisplayPort 1.4 interfaces.
On the data side, the TUXEDO Book XUX7 features 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen2, 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen2, a UHS-III card reader, and the obligatory RJ45 Ethernet jack.
