    Large 17.3-inch screen with plenty of workspace and portable at the same time: The InfinityBook S 17 - Gen7 with energy-saving yet powerful Intel Core i5-1240P and i7-1260P processors is a compact and very thin desktop replacement for office and everyday use.

    This is made possible by 8 Efficient-cores and 4 Performance-cores, which provide both CPUs with a great performance while consuming only a maximum thermal design power of 28 watts. Thanks to its modern, extremely slim screen bezels all around, the InfinityBook S 17 even combines a large 17.3-inch Full HD display with chassis dimensions formerly seen only on 15-inch notebooks!

    But size alone is not everything. That's why the new IBS 17 is also packed with modern technology: The ergonomic and cooling-optimized Lift-Up hinge, power efficient yet fast Intel Alder Lake CPUs with integrated Iris Xe Graphics, Thunderbolt 4 and a big 73 Wh battery are highlights of the large yet compact 17 inch Linux business notebook.

     

    Smallest 17 inch business laptop

    Admittedly: The words "small" and "17 inch" usually do not go together quite well.

    Nevertheless, the InfinityBook S 17 not only offers a screen-to-body ratio of 93 % due to its extremely slim bezel design all around, but it also integrates a large 17.3 inch FullHD IPS display on chassis dimensions of 395 x 250 x 19.8 mm, which were typical for 15.6-inch notebooks just a few years ago.

    This makes the office desktop replacement one of the smallest 17.3-inch notebooks on the market and combines a large screen with a robust partial-aluminum case (display lid and bottom panel) and a proportionally low weight of only 2.25 kg.

     

    Great multitasking performance
    thanks to 12 CPU cores.

    With the 12th generation of Core-i-processors (codename: Alder Lake), Intel introduces its completely new hybrid architecture according to the so-called big.LITTLE principle. This means that the processing work is distributed to two differently optimized CPU core groups, the Efficient-cores and the Performance-cores.

    In the InfinityBook S 17 you have the choice between the Intel Core i7-1260P (max. 4.7 GHz) and the Core i5-1240P (max. 4.4 GHz). Both CPUs are equipped with 8 energy-saving Efficient-cores and 4 faster Performance-cores and are specified to run with a Thermal Design Power of 28 watts.

    At low system load, only the 8 Efficient-cores are active and help to save power, while the 4 faster Performance-cores are additionally added up when the system gets under high processing load. Thanks to hyperthreading technology, the P-cores can process up to 8 threads, resulting in a total of 16 threads together with the E-cores.

    This leads to a strong multi-core performance for heavy multitasking workloads.
    You want to work on several different projects and with many open apps at the same time? You need enough processing power for demanding image or video editing projects? Go for it!

    Lift-up hinge for
    better ergonomics and cooling

    For a more ergonomic typing experience the InfinityBook S 17 comes with its special Lift-Up hinge, which uses the rear edge of the display lid as a stand and thus raise the notebook at an angle of around 2.3 °.

    In addition to the improved ergonomics due to the slightly angled keyboard, more fresh air can be sucked in by the fan this way, which helps for a cooler and quieter operation of the device.

     

    Up to 7 hours in office use

    The large 73 Wh battery allows for around 6-7 hours in practical office tasks with medium display brightness (~ 150 nits) and browsing the web. At idle runtimes of up to 16 hours are achievable with the big Linux business laptop.

    When the battery charge finally comes to an end, the compact 90 watts power supply impresses with its low weight of roughly 360 grams (incl. power cord) and the very handy dimensions of only 127 x 51 x 28 mm. Alternatively the InfinityBook S 17 can be charged via Thunderbolt 4 using a USB-C power supply rated at 20V and min. 3.25A.

    If the device is mainly used as a business desktop replacement connected to a power outlet, the battery charge level can be configured individually in the BIOS via the practical FlexiCharger function for increasing the battery's life span.

    Important for office work is a good port selection for data exchange or for connecting external monitors. The TUXEDO InfinityBook S 17 comes with several connectivity options:

    The Thunderbolt 4 port offers data speeds of max. 40 Gbit/s and integrates DisplayPort for connecting up to two external 4K monitors as well as and Power Delivery DC-In* for charging the notebook via a practical USB-C power adapter (20V, min. 3.25A).

    In addition to HDMI 2.0 for connecting a third external screen, there are 2x USB-A and 2x USB-C ports in total, as well as a microSD card reader and the obligatory RJ 45 LAN port. The connectivity setup is completed by a combined headphone jack and microphone input as well as the Kensington Lock.

    We're testing battery time always in idle mode, at minimal display brightness, with keyboard backlight deactivated, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth disabled and without any further connected devices (USB, LAN, HDMI, VGA etc. unplugged!). We always test with integrated graphics when a dedicated and integrated graphics chip is installed.
    This way you get an information of maximal possible battery life. Starting from this, you can manage your individual battery life depending on your demands and to influence it, e.g. is keyboard backlight unnecessary during daylight. Bluetooth is also only needed to be turned on, if there's a Bluetooth device connected. Full display brightness as well is hardly always necessary.

     

    Lifetime of batteries

    The operation of all TUXEDO Books is also possible without battery. Users are often advised to remove the battery during permanent mains operation in order to conserve it. Thanks to FlexiCharger this is not necessary. Further Information

    At low system workload, there is less heat emerging. The cooling system fans can spin accordingly slow or even turn themselves off completely. Depending on the chassis, cooling system and CPU and GPU, high to very high fan noise (air swooshing) is produced under full load. Thinner notebooks normally tend to get louder due to less cooling capacity.

    With the TUXEDO Control Center you are able to control the performance and the behavior of the fans by yourself. This means that you get the ability to make your device as quiet as possible. By heavily reducing the performance you are able to set the device almost passive cooled, without any fan noise most of the time!

    Operating systems

    We install Ubuntu and TUXEDO OS (based on Ubuntu with KDE Plasma Desktop) in the latest 64-bit version with long term support.

    With our fully automatic installation WebFAI you can easily perform a Linux installation exactly as we at TUXEDO Computers do it in our production! You can choose from all distributions that we also offer in our configurator. Depending on the distribution, you have the choice between different desktop interfaces.     For "self-installers" and all who are interested, we have set up a database with downloads, instructions, tips & tricks and offer Tomte, a tool that automatically makes our adjustments under Ubuntu, elementary OS and Linux Mint:

     

     

    Encrypted Installation

    On request, we install your Linux system completely encrypted. The pre-installation as dual boot with Windows is technically not possible.

    Windows on request

    If you don't want or can't do without Windows, we install the desired Windows version next to Linux or alone. Please understand that a dual-boot installation can take 1-2 working days longer, even though the process is fully automatic. Please also note that we provide you with a correct Windows license incl. license sticker and installation DVD!

     

    Windows Drivers

    The corresponding Windows drivers are already included as standard with every device, regardless of whether it is with or without Windows or operating system installation. Alternatively, you are free to download all Windows-Drivers from here.

     

    UEFI firmware

    With all our notebooks, you have the possibility to protect your privacy already on firmware level using the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).

     

    For this purpose, the following functions can be completely deactivated:

    • On Intel CPUs: Intel Management Engine (IntelME)
    • Webcam
    • On Intel CPUs: Audio (Microphone & Sound)
    • WLAN & Bluetooth

     

    In addition, our Premium UEFI firmware allows chipset-specific settings and definitions for hardware components in order to run adjust the device optimally to your use case.

     

    Please note: All notebooks built in 2021 and later do not support switching the UEFI firmware to the outdated BIOS firmware standard.

    All devices have a maintenance-friendly design. Depending on the model, the essential hardware components such as processor, drive, hard disks, RAM, WIFI modules etc. can be accessed via maintenance flaps or removable floor trays. Furthermore the battery is replaceable if not stated differently. Of course, even after expiration of your warranty period, we're offering replacement parts and service for many years!

     

    For warranty cases, we'll provide you with a free return label after getting in touch with us. Warranty handling is done via our technical support. Please note our warranty conditions

The research effort for application specific setup is immense and not manageable at the current time. Basic compatibility questions e.g. are of course still welcome!
