Chassis quality

This category includes our evaluation of the general quality, workmanship and stability of the chassis, keyboard and touchpad.

We take into account properties such as the torsional rigidity of the chassis base and display, keyboard flexing, the stiffness of the hinges, the materials used and the overall haptic impression.

CPU performance

This rating shows the maximum CPU performance resulting from the fastest processor option available for this TUXEDO on the one hand and the power consumption that the cooling system is able to dissipate on the other.

The »Central Processing Unit« is the most important component of a computer and determines the overall performance of your TUXEDO. The CPU performance results from the amount of computing cores, so-called CPU cores, and their respective clock speeds. The same processor usually runs with lower performance on thin and light notebooks than on thicker machines due to less cooling capacity.

For surfing the web, checking emails or less demaning productive work, a low-end CPU performance is fully sufficient. Some image editing or cutting video files require a performance indicator of at least 30 %.

For more demanding image and video editing, software development or playing games, we recommend a mid-tier processor (50% or better). Highly demanding tasks like 4K video editing with filters and effects, modeling 3D animations with high polycounts or high-end gaming require an upperclass CPU with at least 70% performance rating.

Graphics performance

This rating shows the maximum graphics performance resulting from the fastest GPU option available on the one hand and the power consumption that the cooling system is able to dissipate on the other.

The graphics card is responsible for processing and rendering all visual contents on the screen. For surfing the web, writing emails or less demanding productive work, (very) low graphics performance is fully sufficient. Image editing with several effects or cutting videos can benefit from a faster graphics card and recommend a performance indicator of at least 20 %.

For more demanding video editing in 1080p resolution or higher, 3D modeling or mainstream gaming, we recommend a mid-tier graphics card (50 % or better). Very demanding tasks like video rendering in 4K with many filters and effects, working in big 3D CAD scenes or gaming in max quality settings and 2560x1600 pixels resolution require a performance indicator of at least 70 %.

Geräuschkomfort

This rating combines internal measurements of thermals (fan noise and temperatures) of the most powerful hardware configuration under the following three exemplary usage scenarios:

Please note that you can adjust performance and fan settings to your preferences using our inhouse-developed and pre-installed TUXEDO Control Center. Lower fan speeds lead to higher temperatures and - if neccessary - to an automatic reduction in system performance (thermal throttling).

Thin and light notebooks usually get louder and/or warmer compared to thicker devices and have to run their fans more frequently and faster (= louder).

Mobility

This rating shows our evaluation of the portability factor based on chassis dimensions and weight (notebook and power supply).

Your actual portability requirement depends on your usage profile: If you rarely carry your TUXEDO over longer distances, »desktop replacement notebooks« (mobility score: ~50%) offer the best balance of portability and cooling for quieter and more pleasant fan acoustics or higher performance compared to thinner and lighter devices.

If you regularly carry your TUXEDO over longer distances at a stretch, we recommend a lighter total weight of 2.5 to 2.8 kg (incl. power supply; mobility score: ~70 %) - of course at the expense of performance and/or fan noise.

If performance (and possibly fan noise comfort) plays a very minor role and your TUXEDO should act as constant companion more time under your arm or in your bag than on your desk, a very light Linux notebook (less than 1.8 kg; mobility: 80% or higher) is a good choice.

As flexible as you are

You don't want to limit yourself to a single device category and want to use your TUXEDO flexibly depending on your mood, activity or location instead?

Then, the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 offers you the flexibility you need in three different modes:

Laptop Mode: In this mode, you use your InfinityFlex 14 just like a traditional laptop with keyboard and touchpad for best productivity, writing texts, answering emails or creating presentations. Of course, the touch screen can also be used in this mode.

Monitor Mode: If you tilt the screen by more than 300°, the Linux convertible can be used in two positions as space-saving display for presentations or watching a movie.

Tablet Mode: By rotating the screen by the full 360°, the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 gets converted into a large Linux tablet for comfortable web surfing on the sofa, reading an e-book or digital painting in »Krita« using a separately available pen (MPP 2.0, 4096 pressure levels).

By the way: As soon as the device is used in Monitor or Tablet Mode, the keyboard and touchpad are automatically deactivated to prevent incorrect entries, the screen content is rotated according to the chassis orientation and TUXEDO OS also adapts its User Interface to touch operation: Icons and buttons are displayed larger and separated by bigger margins and the physical keyboard is replaced by an on-screen keyboard.

Power-saving 10-Core Processor

For energy-saving operation, the Linux convertible relies on a the Intel Core i5-1335U: With 10 cores (consisting of 2 Performance Cores and 8 energy-saving Efficient Cores), the ultra low voltage CPU handles all everyday tasks, from web browsing and e-mails to office apps and light to medium image editing, with ease.

In order to ensure smooth operation with quick response times in everyday use, the power-saving processor is allowed to boost performance for a few seconds during peak loads, but throttles down to 15 watts under continuous load due to the InfinityFlex 14's extremely thin and light chassis, ensuring the Linux convertible to run quietly and cool.

Our tip: Try out different energy/performance profiles in the TUXEDO Control Center to adjust InfinityFlex 14 to your needs: For emails and reading texts, the CPU can be locked to very low clock speeds to save power, while image editing or digital painting require slightly higher clock speeds.

Linux Convertible in an Ultra Thin and Light Partial Aluminum Chassis

The InfinityFlex 14 cuts a fine figure in many ways: as a traditional, highly portable subnotebook, as a touch display or, in 360° folded mode, as a large 14-inch Linux tablet. A TUXEDO as flexible as you are!

At a total height of less than 2 cm, TUXEDO's very first convertible PC accommodates two device types in one housing: Laptop and tablet. The first convertible to see the light of day in the Linux world comes in a silver partial aluminum case, with the outer surfaces (lid and bottom shell) made of the stable yet light metal for safe transport.

On a footprint of 316 x 229 mm, the InfinityFlex integrates a white backlit keyboard and a 135 x 77 mm glass touchpad with integrated mouse buttons.

To transform the Linux convertible into a stand-alone touch monitor or a large 14-inch tablet, the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 features a rigid double hinge that allows the screen to be opened up to 360°.

Bright, Non-glare 14-inch Touchscreen with Pressure-sensitive Pen Support

Of course, the screen plays a particularly important role in a convertible notebook, as it not only serves as image output medium, but also as an intuitive input device which features touch control by finger and stylus pen using MPP 2.0 and 4096 pressure levels.

The 3-in-1 hybrid mobile pc accommodates a 14-inch display whose size combines a compact chassis design with a pleasantly large screen area in the space-efficient 16:10 format for productive work in any operating mode.

Together with its 100% sRGB color gamut and a resolution of 1920x1200, this results in a vivid, sharp picture, while the matte non-glare coating, which is unusual for touchscreens, and the brightness of 400 nits also allow outdoor use.

Up to 6 Hours during Video Playback and Ultra Portable USB-C Power Supply

To ensure the ergonomic handling of a convertible laptop PC also in fully flipped tablet mode, the core chassis has to be extremely slim (here: less than 15 mm).

Despite this space limitation, InfinityFlex 14 integrates each 2x exchangable RAM and SSD slots as well as a 55 Wh battery which, in conjunction with the energy-saving processor, achieves runtimes of around 5 hours when browsing the web and up to 6 hours during local video playback.

Thanks to its roughly palm-sized design and a weight of just over 250 grams, the 100 W USB-C power supply is so small and light that you can take it with you with the greatest of ease to charge your Linux convertible for uninterrupted work.

For an energy-saving operation, we recommend our pre-set, tuned power profiles as well as the manual settings for CPU power limit control (TDP) in our inhouse-developed TUXEDO Control Center, which comes pre-installed on your TUXEDO laptop.

Linux Convertible with upgradable RAM and 2x M.2 SSD Storage Slots

Despite the very limited space inside the case, the InfinityFlex 14 comes not only with exchangable SO-DIMM RAM, but also offers two expandable SSD slots for up to 8 Terabyte of storage, which represents unusually high upgrade and repair options for a convertible notebook.

After removing the InfinityFlex 14's bottom panel, which of course is covered by your warranty, 2x RAM slots for up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 and 2x M.2 SSDs for up to 8 Terabytes data storage are equally accessible for replacement as the Wi-Fi card, the screwed battery or the fan.

For even more storage space, you get 10 GB myTUXEDO cloud storage for free with every TUXEDO laptop or PC. This way, you can access your data conveniently and securely (encrypted and hosted in compliance with german data protection regulations) at any time from anywhere and with any Internet-capable laptop, PC or smartphone.

Flexibility for Your Work Environment

The InfinityFlex 14 also cuts a fine figure when it comes to flexibility for sophisticated work requirements. The biggest highlight is of course the 4G / LTE support for high-speed web access nearly anywhere via SIM card. Four USB ports in total are not a matter of course in a device this thin and small either.

Speaking of USB: The Linux Convertible is charged via one of the two USB-C ports (1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x "full-featured" USB-C 3.2 Gen2), while - in combination with the HDMI 2.0 port - you can connect up to 3 external monitors to your TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14. Connectivity is rounded off by 2x USB-Typ-A for peripherals and the obligatory 2-in-1 headphone microphone jack.
