Top-Notch Desktop-Level Performance for Work & Play

Based on desktop technology, the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX and 9955HX3D, which can be configured to run between 10 and 130watts, deliver enormous computing speed, making them ideal for the most demanding multitasking, professional video editing, large code compilations and gaming with highest frame rates.

Both CPUs feature 16 cores, which process up to 32 tasks simultaneously using hyperthreading and clock with up to 5.4 GHz (single core) in order to perform on par with the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. The only thing where they differ is their L3 cache capacity. This memory, which is much smaller but also faster than the RAM, boosts CPU-limited PC games for slightly - and in some cases - noticably smoother frame rates.

While the Ryzen 9 9955HX comes already with a high capacity of 64 MB L3 cache for excellent gaming performance, the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D even provides 128 MB via 3D V-Cache, which - depending on the game and graphics settings - gives it a very slight to noticeable advantage in CPU-limited games (especially ultra-high fps e-sports titles).

The Ryzen 9955HX's and 9955HX3D's desktop processor architecture is optimized for maximum performance and results in slightly higher power consumption and shorter battery runtimes than on the Intel-based Stellaris 16 - Gen7.

In addition to a high-brightness 500 nits panel with anti-glare coating, full sRGB color gamut and 300Hz refresh rate for ultra high-speed gaming at a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, the new HDR Mini LED display takes image quality to the next level.

The new premium monitor relies on much smaller and brighter light-emitting diodes, which allow many more of them to be fitted in order to illuminate the screen more punctually than on standard LED panels to massively boost contrast with perfect blacks using »local dimming« (optional).

Desktop replacement with mobility skills: Despite being primarily meant as portable desktop replacement, the Stellaris 16 cuts a fine figure when it comes to mobility thanks to its maximum-sized 99 Wh battery for 5 to over 6 hours and USB-C charging with up to 140watts.

For regular transportation (e.g. to the office), we recommend keeping a second original power supply at your destination. If this is not possible or desired and if you don't need full power over there, the Stellaris 16 can also be charged with up to 140watts using a very handy, lightweight USB-C power adapter to reduce weight.

HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort and USB-C

The Stellaris 16 fits uncluttered into your working environment with rear connections for monitors, docking station, power supply and the optional external TUXEDO Aquaris water cooling system and connects up to 4 high-res monitors via HDMI 2.1, 2x USB-C and Mini DisplayPort.

While 3x USB-A ensures compatibility with traditional peripherals, USB-C 3.2 Gen2 allows hooking up the Linux gaming workstation to a docking station and/or charging the notebook via USB-C with up to 140 watts to save some weight for more frequent transportation using a lightweight travel power supply unit.

Cooling System & Fan

Temperature controlled fan
At low system workload, there is less heat emerging. The cooling system fans can spin accordingly slow or even turn themselves off completely. Depending on the chassis, cooling system and CPU and GPU, high to very high fan noise (air swooshing) is produced under full load. Thinner notebooks normally tend to get louder due to less cooling capacity.

Custom performance and fan control with the TUXEDO Control Center
With the TUXEDO Control Center you are able to control the performance and the behavior of the fans by yourself. This means that you get the ability to make your device as quiet as possible. By heavily reducing the performance you are able to set the device almost passive cooled, without any fan noise most of the time!

Operating systems
We install Ubuntu and TUXEDO OS (based on Ubuntu with KDE Plasma Desktop) in the latest 64-bit version with long term support.

With our fully automatic installation WebFAI you can easily perform a Linux installation exactly as we at TUXEDO Computers do it in our production! You can choose from all distributions that we also offer in our configurator. Depending on the distribution, you have the choice between different desktop interfaces. More backgrounds and a video demo as well as detailed instructions can be found here.

For "self-installers" and all who are interested, we have set up a database with downloads, instructions, tips & tricks and offer Tomte, a tool that automatically makes our adjustments under Ubuntu, elementary OS and Linux Mint:

Encrypted Installation

On request, we install your Linux system completely encrypted. The pre-installation as dual boot with Windows is technically not possible.

Windows on request

If you don't want or can't do without Windows, we install the desired Windows version next to Linux or alone. Please understand that a dual-boot installation can take 1-2 working days longer, even though the process is fully automatic. Please also note that we provide you with a correct Windows license incl. license sticker and installation DVD!

Windows Drivers

The corresponding Windows drivers are already included as standard with every device, regardless of whether it is with or without Windows or operating system installation. Alternatively, you are free to download all Windows-Drivers from here.
UEFI firmware

With all our notebooks, you have the possibility to protect your privacy already on firmware level using the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).

For this purpose, the following functions can be completely deactivated:
- On Intel CPUs: Intel Management Engine (IntelME)
- Webcam
- On Intel CPUs: Audio (Microphone & Sound)
- WLAN & Bluetooth
In addition, our Premium UEFI firmware allows chipset-specific settings and definitions for hardware components in order to run adjust the device optimally to your use case.

Please note: All notebooks built in 2021 and later do not support switching the UEFI firmware to the outdated BIOS firmware standard.

All devices have a maintenance-friendly design. Depending on the model, the essential hardware components such as processor, drive, hard disks, RAM, WIFI modules etc. can be accessed via maintenance flaps or removable floor trays. Furthermore the battery is replaceable if not stated differently. Of course, even after expiration of your warranty period, we're offering replacement parts and service for many years!

Please include your customer number, the model name of your laptop or PC and as detailed a description of your request as possible. The more details you give us, the faster we can process your request!

We might not be able to answer questions about third party hardware or software. For questions about popular open source software (Thunderbird, Filezilla...) please contact a forum e.g. ubuntuforums.org. The research effort for application specific setup is immense and not manageable at the current time. Basic compatibility questions e.g. are of course still welcome!
